Every $50 provides a woman with a hot meal and a safe, comfortable place to stay for one night Existing services cannot meet the demand for emergency crisis accommodation for women who are homeless or escaping domestic violence. More than 50% of women seeking shelter are turned away every night. Across Australia, this equates to over 50,000 women nightly. Women unable to access shelters are left vulnerable, disconnected from community and support networks. Women’s Community Shelters are dedicated to providing women and children with a safe place to stay. Note: To ensure greatest impact, donations are sent to Women’s Community Shelters with the flexibility to support this and other related projects. This allows Women’s Community Shelters to use their expertise to direct resources to be as effective as possible.
With specialised counselling
What can $1 do?
$50 goes towards providing one-on-one specialised therapeutic counselling for a child who has experienced family violence. Every night in Australia 46,000 children can’t sleep in their own beds because they are at risk of being abused or neglected. In counselling, children are supported to understand the abuse was not their fault and they are worthy of love. The Australian Childhood Foundation is a leading organisation, supporting children to recover from the trauma of abuse, neglect and family violence. The Foundation provides specialist support to children, to help them heal and feel safe, while educating and empowering communities to safeguard children from abuse. Note: To ensure greatest impact, donations are sent to Australian Childhood Foundation to support this and other related projects. This allows them to use their expertise to direct resources to be as effective as possible.
